Buncee:

A Creative Tool for all Classrooms

Overview:

Type of Software: Web resource

Cost: FREE! There are options to upgrade to more exclusive packages for $7.00, $10.00, or $20.00 per month. Also, teachers can create a personalized account with their school and district.

Primary User: Teachers and Students

Features:

Create engaging and visually stimulating slideshows and PowerPoint presentations.

Users can organize slideshows and presentations into different classes or subject maters.

Users can share the presentations that they make through Buncee itself, email, or social media.

Users can create their own blog page through this site as well as read blog posts from others.

Prerequisites: If users have ever used PowerPoint or a social media page such as Facebook, this site should look fairly familiar for them to navigate.

Intuitiveness: The site is very visually stimulating and engaging. The site is also easy to work with since there are a lot of instructional cues to help users make their way around the page. There are also video tutorials and trainings to show users how to manage the site.

An Alternative: Museum Box is an alternative for this site. That site is focused on creating a presentation about a more specific person or event whereas Buncee is very broad.

As a Resource for the Classroom

Benefits:

There are premade templates on the website for users to use but users are also able to upload their own backgrounds and templates if they do not like the ones provided.

Users have access to various blog posts by other teachers about a variety of subject matters.

The site offers a live online training for users to learn all of the benefits and uses of the site.

There are no pop up adds surrounding the page to distract from learning.

There is a blog page where users can write and create their own blog posts that can assist with communication with parents and other teachers as well.

There is an online gallery of Buncees created by teachers and students that are available to other users of the site.

Buncee is also an application that users can download to their phones, iPads, computers and then use on the go.

“Buncee brings students stories to life! My students love creating with Buncee as it allows them to share their knowledge and creativity in an easy, collaborative and engaging way!” — Buncee

“Buncee is the best and most creative tool! Once you see this amazing website, you will immediately fall in love with Buncee! Buncee is a great tool to use and is a whole new experience that other companies don’t have! Buncee is something that everyone should use! This creation is fast, fun, and easy!” — Buncee

Drawbacks:

The site has a lot of resources that are not clearly presented so users may need to dig around the site a little more closely to find what they are looking for.

There are significantly more features available for users that upgrade to the other packages and payments.

Tips:

If you find the site useful, upgrade to the higher packages because they are worth the extra money. See if your whole school can sign up for it as to lower your personal costs.

Watch the video tutorials to help you manage your way through the site.

Problems to Solve and Possible Uses:

Students get bored with “teacher-talk” presentations

Buncee will help users to create more engaging presentations and PowerPoint’s for their classes. I created the beginning of a presentation about backward design.

Communication with families

There is a blog page where parents and teachers can connect.

Collaboration within your school

Through the school / district package on the site, teachers can connect and share their presentations so that teachers are all teaching the same content.

Overall, I would suggest this web source to future and current educators.
